Reading of Roncaglia Edict and tasting of medieval appetizers.
Sunday September 3rd – Passeggiata Amici di Como (Lakefront Alley)
Medieval games for children, dancers, falconers, musicians and flagwavers.
Villa Geno and St. Agostino lakefront:
first official competition, the Lucias Regatta, then parade and prize-giving.
Wednesday September 6th – St. Abbondio Church
"Sine Musica Inanis", a concert of traditional and
ancient music by the Celtic Harp Orchestra (free admission).
Saturday September 9th – piazza del Duomo
A late middle-age wedding with jugglers, dancers, musicians and flag-wavers.
Medieval banquet with jugglery and fire-eaters show (for reservations call No. 333.4686495).
Sunday September 10th – piazza del Duomo and via Plinio
CARIOLANA COMPETITION HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH
Historical parade, then second official competition: the wheel-barrow Race,
followed by a show with musicians, flag-wavers, jugglers and fire-eaters. Prize-giving.
Thursday September 14th – via Castel Baradello
Visit to the secret corners of the ancient St. Carpoforo Basilica
(with italian-speaking guide only, free of charge).
Meeting point in front of the former Restaurant "Genoeucc". Comfortable shoes to be preferred.
Meeting point has been relocated to St. Carpoforo Basilica at 5pm.
Saturday September 16th – piazza Volta, via Grassi, via Garibaldi
Medieval festival for little knights, young dames and their families, with falconry's activities,
dances, games, scenes form medieval life, craftsmen, jugglers, musicians and flag-wavers.
third and last official competition, the "Tug of War" and its price-giving ceremony.
Sunday September 17th – from the Area Ippocastano (the Horse Chestnut Parking Lot) to piazza Cavour
Great Historical Parade with hundreds of citizens, horses, war machines, musicians, flag-wavers,
falconers, stilt-walkers, greyhounds etc.
5.00 p.m. – piazza Cavour
Spectacular final performances and assignment of the Palio to the winning hamlet.
(In case of bad weather conditions, the event will be postponed to Sunday September 24th)
Sunday September 24th – Castel Baradello
Guided visit to the castle tower called the "stone sentinel", and show with falconers,
archers, musicians and flag-wavers.
Holy Mass celebrating the end of the Palio with the characters at the Emperor's court.
