THE JOUST

This equestrian tournament was the best-known competition during the 2nd half of the XI century and it concerned in a sort of training for medieval knights. In fact, the simulacrum of the enemy, which had to be hit, was necessary in order to reinforce the warrior soul and the hatred towards the enemy himself. Today, The Joust re-lives the ancient traditions in folklore. During the contest each village is represented by its own knight who will take the field galloping his destrier and trying to hit the mark of the simulacrum before his antagonist, who will have taken the field at the same time. In this way the winning knight will get the right to fight against the next adversary of the following village.
