The competitors take offence at three spectacular and very long drawn-out competitions which are typical of Como:

“THE JOUST” (a chivalrous tournament), “THE WHEELBARROWRACE” (very hard competition where two people run, as competitors couple, with typical wood wheelbarrows) and finally “THE SHOOTING TO THE ROPE” (a competition of strength among the athletes belonging to the Villages)
